These are pictures of my brother and I at Mother Goose Land in 1968 or 1969. They are old polaroids that have fades some. I am trying to locate exactly were Mother Goose Land was. Our family did not do much traveling other than going through Yellowstone Park and around Montana and parts of Idaho. I am hoping that someone will also have pictures that are simular to mine and can tell me where Mother Goose Land is.
Nice pictures. Our family cabin was built in 1970 which shares it's west property line with Mother Goose Land of years past. They are at mile marker 383 at the north end of Last Chance.
ReplyDeleteIs that in Helena ?
DeleteHeres more pictures. I last visited when I was 5 or 6 in the late 60's

Do you have pictures that you would be willing to share ? I'm still not sure where Mother Goose Land was located.

DeleteI believe there to be two different locations. I believe the one I visited as a child was near Island Park, on the way to West Yellowstone. We would travel to Blackfoot , Idaho to visit family and would stop at Mother Goose Land on the way home. We did not go through Lolo, Mt.
DeletePhyllis it was in Island Park Idaho. You would drive through Ashton and up the hill. It would be on your East side of the highway. The building is still there but all the Mother Goose land things are gone. They use it as a cabin now.
DeleteI will have to look for some pictures. Mother Goose Land of Island Park, ID is/was located at mile marker 383 of Highway 20. It is about 7 miles south of Pond's Lodge, or 1/2 mile north of the present day Trouthunter Lodge, or just east of Anglers Inn, or about 600 feet north of the Orvis Fly Shop. The last 3 locations are in the "Last Chance" area of Island Park.
ReplyDeleteThis is the correct location. We went there a lot when I was a kid. I loved going there.
DeleteThanks for the excellent directions. I've been wondering about this for decades. It's a shame that there seems to be no trace of this awesome childhood memory! BTW, it's only four miles from Last Chance to Pond's Lodge.😇
DeleteMother Goose Land was in Lolo Montana, just outside of Missoula. Went there many times ad a kid.
ReplyDeleteDo you have any photos that you could share ? I am beginning to believe that there are two different places with the same name, " Mother Goose Land ". I have seen other photos that are suppose to be from the same time ( 1968/1969 ) but are very different.
DeleteMother Goose Land is in Island Park south of Ponds Lodge on east side of freeway. Herbson is correct. I helped Jay Fransen build it in 1963.
ReplyDeleteDo you know if there are any written history or articles about Mother Goose Land ? It would be great to find something about it. Or maybe get information and photos from others that visited and document as much information as we could find.
